Hi, I’m Lindsey. So glad you’re here!
I am a pastor’s wife, interior designer, blogger, and the CEO of my house (well, maybe I’m getting carried away). More importantly, I am a wife to my best friend and a momma of two. I love them obsessively. Most of all, I am a follower of Jesus and that is what fills and sustains me.
My husband and I are planting a church in South Georgia and I am starting my design business in a new place. I’m a creative who loves design and words and I am excited to share both with you here.
Obviously, I love design and decorating, but most of what I’ve blogged about since 2009 is my family. You can read all about fun trips we’ve been on, cities we’ve lived in, parties I’ve planned, races we’ve done (well, mostly races Joe’s done), parenting challenges, home projects, holidays celebrated, and the fun (and sometimes the not-so-fun) goings and doings of everyday life.
We’ve had quite the journey serving God in ministry, and seeing His plan unfold has been a realization that we can make plans all we want but we don’t have a clue about anything really.
Being authentic is what I am about and it’s what this place is about. If you read my spaghetti post, you will know that I cannot compartmentalize my life. I’m a follower of Jesus and it permeates every-single-thing I do… I do some things well and I mess up. A lot. I’m not polished and I won’t try to be here.
My goal is to be inspiring, encouraging and fun. I want to connect with you. Find me on Instagram (which is my favorite form of social media). Email me, leave a comment, and sign up for updates. I promise I will not flood your inbox and consider you taking the time to read my words a gift.
Thanks for taking the time to meet me. Now, it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you!
MY DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
I believe that good design is more than just putting together a pretty interior. It’s about finding your style, what you love, and creating a space that reflects that. Your style is authentically you. It’s personal. It’s about finding what works for you (and your family) and what doesn’t.
I believe good design should be attainable for everyone, regardless of the size of the budget. It’s not about how much you spend, but how you organize, arrange, layer and curate. It’s about how it all comes together and what it communicates.
I believe a home is not a showroom or a duplication of a spread in a magazine or collection of images on Pinterest. While it may be influenced by those things, ultimately what makes a space beautiful is the story it tells. Our homes, perhaps more than we realize, tell others about our personality, our lifestyle – who we are, what we cherish. I believe in the importance of being intentional about this.
I believe your home should fill you with joy, maybe not always happiness (Why are these Legos all over the ground?!? Why is the counter so cluttered in the kitchen?!), but JOY.
My goal is to help you find that joy.
MY PERSONAL STYLE
I get the question a lot, what is your style? My husband describes me as “classic…but not predictable.” He’s also described me as bohemian, so there’s that element too. I really hesitate to answer the style question, afraid of being put into a box. I don’t want to be limited, because my own style is eclectic. It is a blend of modern and traditional elements. It is rustic…and chic. It is fun and timeless. I like to mix old and new. Antiques and vintage furniture, new contemporary pieces, and thrift store treasures all find a place in my home.
Form and function coexist. I try to be purposeful in how I decorate our home. I’m practical…to an extent. Not everything has to be “useful”. I like fun accessories that don’t serve any other purpose but to make us smile or trigger a memory.
I live by the William Morris quote, “Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.” I routinely go through my home and ask myself those questions. “Is it useful? Is it beautiful?” Now my daughter says that!
While I gravitate towards my own personal design style when working with a client, it is important to me to understand not everyone I work with likes the same things. I am OK with that. In fact, I love it! My goal is to create spaces that are beautiful to YOU. As a designer, I am successful when my clients are happy.
